Site: Movie Review Site (undisclosed URL)

Business Model:
Provide humorous and abrasive movie reviews for current releases and cult classics. No revenue generation methods in place.

Task:
The client’s web developer departed from the project and left the remaining partners to fend for themselves. Their traffic was averaging about 150 unique visitors a day, and had been for about two years. The client wanted to maximize search engine traffic potential and develop a revenue base that not only paid for the site but gave them a little extra to play with.

Solution:
The departing partner left and let the host account shut down, leaving the site owners with no website or past content. The only option available was a complete site rebuild with search engine optimization in mind from the ground up. Once the site was complete, strategic link trading and one-way link building was implemented to further the site’s authority and power. Once search engine results began to take hold, advertising possibilities were discussed and implemented.

Business Results:
The site’s traffic increased, from December 1st when I accepted the project, to an average of 1000 unique visitors a day (see before and after below) currently. They are in the top 10 for one of the largest ‘movie review’ centered terms and have attracted advertisers that pay for every thousand page views. Once all the ad slots are full they should have a large enough income from this project to make it a full time occupation.
